Fundraising Events

At Castlemaine Health we are committed to raising additional funds to benefit our clients.  We are extremely grateful for the continued support that has been shown by many individuals, businesses, community groups, bequests, legacies and philanthropic trusts.

During the year, a number of special events involving staff and the local community raised funds for our health service, including:

Run the ‘Maine
The 2012 “Run the Maine” Fun Run which was held in October last year raised $5000 for the purchase of two defibrillators and two trainers to teach staff how to use them.   The defibrillators will be placed in the Acute ward with the Medical Emergency Response team and in Penhall hostel.

Murray to Moyne
In 2013 the Castlemaine Rouleurs team will ride to support Castlemaine Health.

Each year the Murray to Moyne cycle relay riders are supported by many businesses and individuals in the community.

Money raised in 2012 has funded the purchase of a Golf Buggy which will be used to transport prospective frail residents and their families around the site to view the residential care accommodation.  It will also be used by Activity Workers to take clients to appointments in the main building and it will allow for easier transportation of residents to visit relatives or friends in other units.

Collier Charitable Fund
Thank you once again to the Collier Charitable Fund for a grant of $29,700 for the purchase of a Zimmer Dermatome, a Smith & Nephew Basket Punch and a Verathon Glidescope.  These items will be used by general surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons and anaesthetists in the new operating suite.

The Collier Charitable Fund has made a gift to the hospital (via the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation) over several years and has been responsible for the purchase of a variety of equipment beneficial to the hospital, the hostels and the community.  We greatly appreciate their ongoing support.
