PRIVATE PATIENTS
Your private health insurance
Did you know that you can choose to use your private health insurance at Castlemaine Health?
How it helps you
If you choose to use your private health insurance health service cover, you will not be out of pocket for any co-payments, medical consultations, x-rays, scans or blood tests conducted at Castlemaine Health. The health service will also waive some money towards the excess on your health insurance (please ask about this when you come in). You may receive an out of pocket expense from your anaesthetist, however they will advise you of this.
If you stay overnight
You will also receive a daily newspaper, a phone card, additional dinner menu choice, upgraded linen and a toiletries pack. You will be admitted to a private room if available (sometimes due to clinical need the room may not be available).
How it helps us
When you come to our health service, as a private patient your health insurance fund pays Castlemaine Health a ‘bed fee’. This fee helps us to maintain existing midwifery, surgical and medical services and to develop new initiatives for the community.
On admission
When you present to the health service our admission staff will ask if you have private health insurance. They will check if you have any excess on your policy and help you make an informed decision about using your private health insurance.
Please bring your private health insurance details with you to Castlemaine Health.

PATIENT FEEDBACK
Patient feedback is important to Castlemaine Health and we encourage all clients to tell us how they feel about our level of customer service, our facilities and our staff. A ‘customer feedback’ form is readily available at the office, from the staff or you may choose to submit feedback through our website, here. Should you have any concerns about any aspect of our service or facilities while you are in our health service please ask to speak to the Manager of your ward so that we can assist you as soon as possible.
