CHIRP has moved to Spencely House at Castlemaine Health.
All appointments from 6 June 2022 will be held at Spencely House, Castlemaine Health, 142 Cornish Street. While our address is changing, all other contact details like phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same.

If you need to chat about how we can help you, we’ll be there. As part of the move we are establishing a new Community Health Information Hub at Castlemaine Community House (30 Templeton St).
Our staff will be available at the Information Hub to provide information and advice about community health services. All appointments will be held at Spencely House. The Information Hub is a walk-in service so you won’t need an appointment – just drop in.

Why is CHIRP moving?
CHIRP Community Health integrated with Castlemaine Health in October 2021. The integration has enabled both organisations to pool their staff and resources to get the very best health and wellbeing outcomes for our community.
How does the move benefit clients and the community?
By consolidating our staff on one site, we can:
- work more closely with our colleagues to enhance your access to other services
- strengthen existing services to better meet the evolving need of our community
- enhance opportunities for staff development/training/skill sharing and best practice
- ensure future sustainability.
What does the move mean for staff and volunteers?
It means CHIRP staff can work more closely together with their colleagues at Cornish Street to better integrate services and care pathways, and to share resources available from that site. Community health volunteers will benefit from a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator based in Cornish Street. Volunteers will continue to dedicate their time to supporting services and activity groups in the community, so this won’t change.
When are you moving?
CHIRP Community health’s office in Mostyn Street will close on Wednesday 1 June 2022. CHIRP Community health will reopen at 9am on Monday 6 June from Spencely House at Castlemaine Health.
Will phone numbers and email addresses change too?
No, only our physical street address is changing. All other contact details such as phone number, email addresses and website address will stay the same.
Where is Spencely House?
Spencely House is a dedicated building located in the grounds of Castlemaine Health. Spencely House has been fully refurbished to offer pleasant and modern offices and appointment rooms for community health staff and clients. Spencely House has access to parking, including disabled parking. Castlemaine Health is also accessible via public transport.
Where do I park my car when I come to my appointment at Spencely House?
Parking and dedicated disabled parking is available directly outside Spencely House. Additional parking is available a short walk downhill from Spencely House. Should both of these car parks be full, further parking is available outside Castlemaine Health’s Main Reception/Urgent Care Entrance in Cornish Street. From there it is a short walk to Spencely House.
I have mobility issues so how will I get to my appointment?
Please tell us if you have needs that will make it difficult to access, use or understand our information or services. We’ll help you plan your visit and put in place arrangements for you before you arrive. You can contact your staff member to discuss your needs.
How do I get to my appointment if I don’t have a car?
Castlemaine Bus Lines has regular bus services with five services per day to Castlemaine Health. Call 5472 1455 for timetables and bus stop information or visit the Castlemaine Bus Lines website at castlemainebuslines.com.au. To book, call Castlemaine Taxis on 5472 3377.
The Castlemaine train station is on the Bendigo to Melbourne line. The station is located approximately 1km from Castlemaine Health. It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk from the station. There is a steep uphill incline once you arrive at the Castlemaine Health grounds. Train timetables are available on the VLine website at www.vline.com.au.

Is CHIRP now part of Castlemaine Health?
Yes, CHIRP integrated with Castlemaine Health in 2021. However, in March 2022 Castlemaine Health integrated with Maldon Hospital. Together, the three organisations created a new health service for Mount Alexander Shire called ‘Dhelkaya Health’.
Dhelkaya means ‘Good/Being Healthy’ in the Dja Dja Wurrung language. The choice of an Indigenous name acknowledges the Dja Dja Wurrung’s traditional ownership of the lands on which we live and work and expresses our gratitude to the Dja Dja Wurrung for sharing them with us.
Both Castlemaine Health and Maldon Hospital have been retained as registered business names under Dhelkaya Health.
Where will the needle exchange services be located?
Our aim is for this service to remain close to town for easy access throughout the week. We are finalising a location and will provide more information once the site is determined. In the short term, please continue using the facilities at 13 Mostyn Street until the 6 June.
I’m in Castlemaine and want to drop in and talk to someone. Can I still do this?

CHIRP Relocation – TRANSPORT SURVEY
From Monday 6 June 2022, CHIRP services will be located on the Castlemaine Health site at 142 Cornish Street, Castlemaine.
In preparation for CHIRP’s relocation to Cornish Street, we are asking CHIRP clients to complete a short transport survey to help us understand more about how you access our services, and what supports you may need from us.
You can fill out the transport survey in several ways:
