Admission Criteria
Admission to residential aged care is recommended on a priority basis based on the medical/social needs identified by an aged care assessment.
There is a waiting list for residential accommodation. However, home support services and respite care can be organised by Bendigo Intake’s Aged Care Assessment Services to help during this period of time.
Individuals can be referred for assessment by their GP. Or people can self refer.
Aged Care Assessment Services
Aged Care Assessment Services (ACAS) helps older people, their families and carers find out what care is best for older people when they can no longer manage at home without help. ACAS assesses and approves older people for aged care services such as:
- home care packages
- transition care for people immediately after a hospital stay
- residential respite care
- residential aged care.
Dhelkaya Health’s ACAS is provided by Bendigo Health. To get in touch with them, call (03) 5454 7589.
