Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care Services are provided by our Pastoral Care Coordinator.

The service provides important assistance to our residents and clients in times of need such as bereavement, serious diagnosis or transition to residential care.  This support is also available to families and carers.

The model of support is conducted in a confidential and non-religious manner. It is person-centered and non-directive and is available to all clients, residents and their families, regardless of faith, cultural or social background. It is centered around listening in a way that allows each person to explore and express their hopes and concerns while drawing on their own personal resources. The service also provides invaluable education and support to our staff, particularly regarding the process of dealing with loss and grief.

Pastoral care services are complemented by visiting ministers from various faith traditions who can visit our wards or residential care units on request.  They and accredited volunteers also run ecumenical services in the residential care units.  Castlemaine Health appreciates the importance of spirituality in people’s lives and every effort is made to attend to the specific spiritual requirements of all our clients and residents.

The Pastoral Care Coordinator can be contacted directly on 5471 1542 or via nursing staff or reception.
