Smoke free

Smoke-free

Castlemaine Health is a smoke-free site. It has a responsibility to provide an environment that is free of tobacco-related risks and offer leadership in promoting the benefits of a smoke-free workplace.

This applies to Castlemaine Health facilities including buildings, vehicles, carparks and outdoor areas This means smoking is prohibited in the hospital and on the hospital grounds.

This is in addition to the legislation that prohibits smoking within four metres of a public access entrance to a public hospital.

Our smoke free organisation also applies to all people entering Castlemaine Health including visitors, contractors and staff.

I’m a smoker planning to visit the hospital – what can I do?

You should plan your visit to make sure you are aware of the premises boundary as you will need to leave the Castlemaine Health grounds to smoke.

If you have been considering cutting down or quitting, consider seeking help from the Quit line on 13 78 48 or your local GP. They will be able to discuss strategies, which may include nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) patches or lozenges and how to manage cravings for cigarettes.
